How to register for a sales tax permit in Puerto Rico
Sidr Tax creates the sales tax account for you. However, this state requires that you have your own login and we access your account as a third-party.
Puerto Rico requires a letter or documentation from the IRS as evidence of your Employer ID. The most common form used is CP-575, IRS EIN confirmation letter.
After Sidr Tax applies for a sales tax permit on your behalf, you will receive your account login from us. You can access that information by going to the registration page and clicking the details button. You will also receive your sales tax ID and filing frequency in the mail.
You can then access an account at Puerto Rico SURI. You will see your sales tax ID in your account.
Tip: You can switch language by clicking the toggle on the top right.
Registering for a Sales Tax Permit in Puerto Rico automatically triggers the Corporate Income Tax Requirement too. If you have a pass-through entity, then the Corporate Income Tax is called Pass-through entity tax. Since Corporate Income Tax is filed separately from sales tax, Sidr Tax cannot handle Corporate Income Tax filing for you. Please plan accordingly for your Puerto Rico Corporate Income Tax filings. You will see your corporate income tax account in Puerto Rico SURI.
