How to register for a sales tax permit in New Jersey
Sidr Tax creates the sales tax account for you. However, this state requires that you have your own login and we access your account as a third-party.
After Sidr Tax applies for a sales tax permit on your behalf, you will receive your New Jersey sales tax ID, PIN, and filing frequency in the mail. You will either receive a 4-digit PIN or a 6-digit passcode.

Once you receive your sales tax ID and PIN in the mail, you can create a login at New Jersey Tax Portal to access your sales tax account.
Click Create a New Account.

Click Administrator Profile.
Click Create a New Administrator Profile

The website will then ask you for your user information. Please fill it out and click Next.

If you already have a myNewJersey login, please link it to your existing login.
If you don't have a myNewJersey login, select No to the first question and create a new myNewJersey login.

You have now successfully created a New Jersey Tax Portal login.

This is a continuation of the New Jersey online login registration process. Please make sure you have completed previous steps.
If you are newly registered, select I have not filed any tax returns with the Division of Taxation yet.
If you have previously filed sales tax with New Jersey, select I have filed a tax return with the Division of Taxation.

If you are newly registered:
Provide account verification information.
Taxpayer ID: Your TAX ID.
Business Name: Your business name provided at registration.
STAR Access Passcode: 6 digit passcode. If your business was assigned a 4-digit PIN, you can convert it into a 6-digit passcode by adding two zeros at the beginning. For example, if your PIN is 1234, it would become 001234.

If you have filed sales tax before:
Tax Type: SALES AND USE - REGULAR RATE (ST-50 SALES AND USE)
Amount from line 1 of most recent return: If you have Autofile with Sidr Tax, you can review the latest filing form here. Click Get Files.

If you are not able to validate access to your business, please reach out to New Jersey Department of Revenue using this contact form or call the New Jersey customer service center at (609) 772-8577 8am-4pm EDT Monday to Friday.
You have successfully registered administrator access to your business. You will be able to access your business within 24 hours.

You can find the registration confirmation number in the registration confirmation email. Please remember this number.
