# How to register for a sales tax permit in Illinois

| Sidr Tax creates the sales tax account for you. However, this state requires that you have your own login and we access your account as a third-party.

### Create your [MyTax Illinois](https://mytax.illinois.gov/) login

After Sidr Tax finishes the registration for you, we will provide you with the sales tax ID. You can access that information by going to the [registration page](https://tax.sidr.io/registrations) and clicking the details button. You will then need to create a login at [MyTax Illinois](https://mytax.illinois.gov/) to access your sales tax account. If your application status shows **applied**, please wait for another few days, and you will see your sales tax ID.

You should be able to see your new tax accounts after logging in.

### Income Tax Account

For Illinois, they always automatically create an income tax account when a sales tax account is created. There is no need to file anything if you are not required to submit income tax.
It's **optional** to close the income tax account. If you would like to close the account. Please follow these steps:

* Login to [MyTax Illinois](https://mytax.illinois.gov/)
* Find the income tax account, and click **View more account options**
* **Account maintenance** > **Request to Close Account**
