# How to register for a sales tax permit in Idaho

| Sidr Tax creates the sales tax account for you. However, this state requires that you have your own login and we access your account as a third-party.

The [Idaho TAP](https://idahotap.gentax.com/TAP/_/) is the Idaho system for sales tax filings. After Sidr Tax finishes your registrations, you will receive your sales tax ID and filing frequency in the mail.

### (Optional) If you have not received a registration code in the mail, please request a registration code from [Idaho TAP](https://idahotap.gentax.com/TAP/_/).

On the [Idaho TAP](https://idahotap.gentax.com/TAP/_/) home page, click **Sign Up**.

Select **No** when it asks whether you have received the registration code.

Fill out your account information, the same as the information you provided us.

### Create an [Idaho TAP](https://idahotap.gentax.com/TAP/_/) Login

If you have already received the registration code. You can now create an [Idaho TAP](https://idahotap.gentax.com/TAP/_/) login. Otherwise, please follow the optional registration code setup above.

On the [Idaho TAP](https://idahotap.gentax.com/TAP/_/) home page, click **Sign Up**.

Select **No** when it asks whether you have received the registration code.

Fill out your registration code and account information.

You will be able to see your sales tax account after you login.

### (Optional) Access [Idaho Business Registration System (IBRS)](https://www2.labor.idaho.gov/IBRS/Login/Login?ReturnUrl=%2FIBRS%2FHome%2FAccountHome)

The [Idaho Business Registration System (IBRS)](https://www2.labor.idaho.gov/IBRS/Login/Login?ReturnUrl=%2FIBRS%2FHome%2FAccountHome) is used to obtain your sales tax license.
After Sidr Tax finishes your registrations, we will provide you with username and password to the [Idaho Business Registration System (IBRS)](https://www2.labor.idaho.gov/IBRS/Login/Login?ReturnUrl=%2FIBRS%2FHome%2FAccountHome). You can access that information by going to the [registration page](https://tax.sidr.io/registrations) and clicking the details button. You can login and view your application, or make changes to your application in the future. Since we manage the application for you, you do not need to make any changes here for the current registration.
